A Quick Suggestion about the Blender version post

Question

Hi all ! Just joined CG Cookie membership 10mins ago, been lurking for few days looking around the website.
Last week I got some question about Blender old version and old tutorial but didn't find any useful information around, end up emailing to @Help. Got long and details info ( thanks Amber ! ) but did wait for 2 days.
Subscribe and went straight to Fundamentals of Modeling and surprise ! The first post are talking about old version post.png

And it's weird, I got locked out from this course being a free member ( lead to subscribe page ) It might had other way to enter the course but I didn't know about it.

  • I wonder if some setting gone wrong? As a free member I didn't know there's free chapters; nor able to find a way to get in this course.
  • That wonderful post about Blender old versions, including the other post linked inside from Kent, should be able to find easily, anyway around the website.
  • I even suggest adding it on the Help tab, can't find it last week.
  • I'm having hard time finding resource, info and free tutorial. I wonder if CGCookie able to do something for future new comers, a better guide/ post with link for them would be nice.

Sorry for the long post, jumping back to tutorial and see you later !

    Hey OOshiKatsuFever,

Happy you're here at CG Cookie!

To watch the Free lessons you do need to register for a free account. To watch the free lessons, on the course page there is a section called 'Course Curriculum' which lists the chapters and the lessons within each.

The free courses are marked as free on the course page and have a 'Start Course' button instead of a 'Subscribe' button, this may not be very noticeable to new comers browsing for the first time.

There is a welcome video in the pipeline to be added to the welcome page after a new member signs up.

You may want to also take a look at the Top 7 tips when starting to learn Blender article, towards the end I mention playlists, downloads and much more to find on the site.

    Happy Blending!

Yeah possibly it was a glitch in the matrix, all those goodies are always there and easily accessible and the post describing the old versions ideas is the first thing a course defaults to, so that is easy to spot usually. Better access to the free stuff hopefully gets promoted on the social medias, but don't worry future new comers, we're here for ya.
