Modify Modifier

Thank you for this very detailed course, but is there a possibility of a course on the remaining modifiers (Modify Modifier) as well? In particular I am looking for a course on advanced modeling that talks in depth about normals so that I can get perfect reflections and realistic lighting in my renders.

    So you are using a blender Version from before the Course 😉

    For anyone answering this question: these are now in the category Edit Modifiers.

    As far as I know, those are sometimes used to get unrealistic reflections, but https://cgcookie.com/courses/pothead-create-a-hard-surface-character-in-blender shows a really good example to 'fix' some reflections with the Transfer Normals Modifier...

    Those Modifiers are not being used very often though; it's especially pretty rare, that you need them for realism, I'd say...

    So you want a course on lighting, not modifiers.
    The Fundamentals of Digital Lighting will help you get started, you may also want to take a look at Fundamentals of Blender Materials and Shading.

    Unfortunately, objects drawn with Cad programs, imported into Blender as OBJs with custom normals, often have defects on normals (this causes distortion defects on reflections), which can only be solved through the Normals menu (shortcut: alt+N), but it is not always easy or solvable. I often find myself applying the Boolean Modifier and this too, in the "Exact" mode destroys the custom normals and I was hoping to solve it with some modifier.

    Hi Massimiliano, I do plan to expand on the other two lists in future, FYI. The main reasons I did not includes these are as follows: The Edit list - as you pointed out - is for more advanced, project-specific uses, and even though the Physics list is accessed through the modifier list, it is a topic worthy of its own course. As for the Edit list - these are often used in project-specific scenarios are are difficult to talk about in isolation. I will, however, try my best while researching!
