Odd normals

Question Modeling

I am working on a Cubicity inspired Irish Pub, and am getting some odd normals from the mirror function. The roof is mirrored on both the x and y axes, and the modeled area does not have a problem...is there a way to fix this?_Pub-odd_normals.png

That is very strange. Perhaps you have an extra object in the Outliner? Can you upload the file and share the link for us to take a look at it?

    Hi Kate KKateMcCSeattle ,

That looks like some Geometry poking through...Select all the Meshes (maybe even Hiding the Roof) and then go into Edit Mode...then try to Select the red parts.

How do I upload the file? I cannot select the red faces because they are generated by the mirror modifier. The problemexists even when I have everything but the roof hidden, so I don't think anything is poking through.

Here is a screen shot showing just the roof:screen_shot.jpg

You can upload your file to Google Drive or some other hosting service and copy paste the link here.

    Solution

I think it might have to do with the Solidify Modifier.

    Solution

    HI Kate,

You should connect these two Vertices:Roof_01.png

    (with J).

  • Kate McCormick(KateMcCSeattle) replied

Thank you!!! connecting the vertices worked.
