Trim Sheets = Texture Kit-Bashing?

I'm not sure if this is a good comparison, but the way Trim Sheets makes sense to me is just seeing it as a sort of kit-bash version of texturing. Is this sort of right?

You could look at it that way...
But kit-bashing would be placing a selection of parts where ever you want to make something else.
Trim sheets are specific images you need and are for specific parts

    They're the same, but different,
like putting the pieces of a puzzle together,
only one puzzle makes up a specified image (Trim Sheet),
and the other makes up a desired shape where the pieces of the puzzle can fit together in any order to achieve something resembling that shape (Kit-bash).

This YouTube video explains it much better.

I like that comparison. It is also a way to economize, thinking smartly about resources. Almost like when you're on a budget to decorate your apartment and you need to play it smart with what little decoration you have. You can do awesome home interior from simple and cheap things.
