Go into edit mode so we can see the UV Map.

    Solution

You have to make a cut vertically so it unfolds correctly. Imagine the real life can, if you want to flatten it your going to have to cut it down the middle, same for the seam.

    The label looks flat, right?
Your UV's need to be flat just like the label.
As Omar said, you need to make a vertical cut, just like the label has.
The label is not a cylindrical shape, it has the vertical cut to make it lay flat.

I made a cut vertical, it looks better like this, Thanks.

Going through my object mode i reduced the Subdivision modifier to 0 level and it fits perfectly but it doesn't look smooth enough for me, view both images pay attention to the top of the can/image texture on the can & look at the modifier 1.png2.png

You need a loop cut there so you tighten the top and the UV's don't slouch down.

  • Dwayne Savage(dillenbata3) replied

On the subdivision Surface modifier, expand advance and change boundary to Keep corners. UV Smooth should be set to Keep Boundaries. If its not then change it to Keep Boundaries.
