I can't get it to work

posted to: Updated Collisions

*Edit* problem mostly solved (it still finds an invisible wall, but at least it's bouncing on both walls now too)

The bounce on the floor works but the walls just don't. At frame 9 the ball suddenly appears below the floor and after that into infinity

I've been staring at it all day, but I can't find where I'm going wrong. Can you please look at it? I have deliberately not cleaned it up so all the nodes are visible

    Oh dear,

I'll look into this tomorrow Sheila,

things like this can be a bit challenging to troubleshoot...

thanks Martin, it sure is. I think I understand the theory, but the practice isn't going so well.

I do see that in his video watching it backs slowly, but not in his file. but that file is made later with extra bits in it. I need to walk the dog first, just implementing it made it going off in the distance again so have to rewatch the lesson again for the xth time

silly me it didn't glitch after that change I made, I forgot that I had cropped the amount of frames to 50 and it just went back to the beginning, lol

not completely satisfied, it doesn't touch the ground. this stuff is hard.

Hi Sheila, it looks like the collision calculations are not completely correct (it doesn't appear to touch the right wall either...), but it's sorta working 😉

    Don't give up!

I will have to find the error else it won't work further on. This is incredibly frustrating.

Sheila you must complete the course and succeed, otherwise I'll be like you see, this stuff is too complicated, I'm not going to try this course. So if you fail, I fail, do it for the both of us.

I've started it again. in the video https://cgcookie.mavenseed.com/lessons/updated-collisions at 11.04 his point also doesn't hit the floor because he moved the floor up by 1 radius.

@omar_domenech I got it better the second time and the next lesson also worked better than it did before so can continue

Oh yeah, that is much better. Progress is happening here Sheila, the next one will be even better for sure.
