Can't get the panel to glow with Translucent Node

Pasted Graphic.pngPasted Graphic 1.pngI think something must be wrong with my setup, safe assumption I think.  In the 1:13ish part I can't get my plane to glow.  I am in Cycles, in Rendered mode.  I don't even get the eerie lighting from the single source.  It can't really be Viewport settings because I'm in the render tab.  Right?  I tried it anyway.  Still no glow.  Something about my setup escapes me.  Can someone assist please.

I can get it work in 4.0 stable.  The above is all in 3.6.8.

Forgot to add the photo.  Apologies.

    Hm,

So, you have one Light, one Plane and a Material, consisting of a single BSDF and you think something's wrong with your setup?

Also, this not working in 3.6 and suddenly working in 4.0?

I'd say you might need to update your graphics drivers...

Or maybe you actually messed up that setup and have two Planes and only one has the Translucent Material on it?

I'm curious as to what caused this, but I can only throw some wild guesses, without more information...and no, it is not a bug.

Finally, just redid from scratch in 3.6.8 and is working. I did something funky with that original file, wish I knew what, so I'd know not to do it later haha.Pasted Graphic 4.png

Really hard to tell from those screenshots....

Could it be that the Light was 'next to' the Plane instead of 'behind' it?

I moved that plane all over the place...I even pumped up the lamp to 500W.  Something was just messed up, just started from scratch all was good.  I had been using that file for the course and was using it to follow along.  It's possible I did something incorrectly but now it's fine.  New file working fine.

To be constantly baffled it's something that comes with the territory in 3D, there is always a "why is it not working" followed by 10 minutes of troubleshooting. And a lot of times it's about starting from scratch, so don't worry, you're not alone in this type of situation, happens to all no matter the expertise.
