Homework Submission & Hello!

CG Cookie Materials and Textures

Hello!

It´s me, Nougat Time! I´m a new aspiring Blender noobie and found CG Cookie a while ago.

This is my submission for the course-assignment <Material and Shader>, any feedback and cricticism is welcome! :3

A couple of questions though, since I just buzzed my way in today:

1. Where do i find help or ask questions regarding certain courses and details?Do I do it here or are there specific boards for each course?

2. Where could I get some help/feedback for my own projects? I´m still really weak at modelling (Amongst maaany other things)

3. The render took quite long, around 10 minutes, did anyone else have this?

I have my settings on GPU and only 12 light bounces, simplified resolution for texture at 2048. (My GPU is NVIDIA RTX 4070Ti)night.jpgday.jpg

    Hi Nougat Time,

    Looking good!

    As to your questions:

    1. You can ask your questions here, or below each Lesson (if it is very specific to something that happens in the Lesson for instance; please add a timestamp in that case), If you ask a question below a Lesson, it will also appear here. If you ask something below a Lesson, the teacher will get a Notification. There is at the moment a bug, that doesn't allow you to add an image to a question asked directly below a lesson, but if you then Reply to your own question, you can add an image. (only the very first post under a Lesson is missing the 'add image' button.

    2. Just ask here.

    3. If you used the default Render Settings, then you most likely have a high Resolution (looks like a 4K image to me, but I just woke up, so I might be completely wrong), because 10 minutes seems a bit long on your GPU. (Also make sure you have only your GPU selected as Render Device in your Preferences, because rendering using both GPU and CPU can be a bit slower than GPU alone.)

Nice work @nougat time, and hello!
Spikey has the answers, adding though you can also upload any of your renders to the gallery if you want to share with everyone and get some feedback from the community.
We also have a Discord channel you should check out, its a cool place to hang out and chat, and eat cookies.

    Happy Blending!

Thank you Spikey, Adrian and Omar! (Can´t figure out how to reply to each individually, so thanks altogether!)

OOmar I bumbled around in blender for a year now, but it has only been buying models off Sketchfab and CG Trader, and similar sites, subsquently posing them

in scenes, or colouring some stuff at best...But! There are certain things I just can´t find anywhere, that and I just wanted to get educated and better at blender..

So I´m not completely new but definetely a noobie :D
