Viewport not reacting to changes in object mode

A few times during this course while in object mode changes in the node editor were not being reflected in the 3d viewport (all settings seem to mirror those in the course ). They would show in the preview slot in material properties panel, however not on the mesh object. tI’ve been able to “shock” things back into action by switching to edit mode and assigning in the material panel but it’s a hassle. Any ideas what’s causing this?

    Hi Toby,

If I understand you correctly, you need to be in shade mode material preview or render preview to see changes in the node editor. They will not be seen in shade mode solid. You probably knew this already, then just ignore this post

    Hi Toby CCap3d ,

That doesn't sound like normal behavior....

Maybe try to update your GPU Driver?

  • Omar Domenech replied

Yeah I agree, update things on your computer, drivers on the GPU, etc. Download the latest Blender version even or if you have the latest one, roll back on version since it may be a bug.

Thanks all. It must be a bug…didn’t happen in recent sessions. I’ve been reluctant to go to new version…3.0 my 1st wubby I suppose.

Another cause of this could be accidentally having multiple material slots for the object and editing a material in one that isn't actually assigned to any faces, which could explain why assigning in Edit Mode fixed the issue. Another fix is removing all other material slots that aren't being used.
