UV unwrapping the cylinder

Why did you decided to deselect one segment of the cylinder's end cap? I have always unwrapped cylinders by just lopping off the end pieces. Is that incorrect? This was at 6:55 btw

    Deselecting one edge will keep the whole drawstring object as one island on the uv map.

    Your way is not incorrect, it all depends on the texture and the object.
