Mirrored UVs alternative?

posted to: UV Unwrapping pt. I

For the UV islands that were mirrored and layed on top of eachother, can you altenatively cntrl+L and link object data? I tried that for five of the same objects, unwrap one, cntrl+L and copied object data to the other four, with only the one object having UV islands in the UV space and the five objects having the same texture. Is that correct? Will it transfer over to the game engine in that way?

    Hey aamit20052020 ,

    Good question.

I think @jlampel is probably the best person to answer.

It sounds good to me, but I'm not to sure about use in a game engine.

I don't see any issue with doing things that way if what's being mirrored are separate objects! It should export to a game engine just fine, but you would probably want to combine everything back into one object before exporting to a game engine anyway to help with performance.
