HDRI not disappearing from my Render or when I got to Active camera mode

Go to Render property (camera icon)  > scroll down where the "Film" tab is located > click on the box to check off "transparent".

In the lesson Grant adds a ground plane and scales it up to fill the camera view, then adds a material.

You could do what euv said as well but this way you won't have any background.
