Mirror Hair Particles

Hi,

I'm trying to mirror some particle hair on the X-axis, but it just won't work. I'm using blender 2.9.
Tried Particle → Mirror in particle edit mode, but nothing happened. The document says it should work this way, but it doesn't.

Greetings,
tobles

Did the amount of hair particles shoot up when you hit mirror? because making a copy on the other side is what it does. is the mesh symmetrical?  or is there a mirror modifier not yet applied? or perhaps topology mirror in the dimension options panel isnt ticked. or the vertex group for the hair not symmetrical itself.

    Hello bbitbuilder,

Thanks for your support. After reading your post I tried to determine the number of hair particles but I can't figure out how to :(
Furthermore I made an eyebrow-dummy-mesh from which I emitted the particle hair. If I select those particles and do the mirroring, they display on the mirrored eyebrow-dummy-mesh. That's like what I wanted for my face sculpt but there it doesn't work. I've split the face sculpt in half to see if it works then but this makes the particle system go all over the place. So I guess I'll go with the dummy mesh.
