Personal Progress Thread gabrieljim

Hey all, I got recommended to make a thread to track my progress along this journey, so far I don't really got anything to be too proud of but hopefully I can look back on this stuff later on and be proud at how far I've come

Attached my Low Poly Rocket, I'm not too sure if that counts because I was just following along mostly, but the animation is still nice.

I just finished the Modeling a SciFi Crate video, and i went ahead and tried to do something on my own, honestly I don't like it very much but I figured I'd drop it here anyways

I'll keep posting (hopefully better) stuff as I go

Great start ggabrieljim , keep posting your work and you will see your improvements, and look back on past projects and be proud of what you achieve. 👍

  • gabrieljim replied

Thanks a lot! I'll keep them coming for sure

Did something related to the Space Station challenge, won't actually put it there coz eh, but at least it made me do something without following a tutorial for the very first time

Excellent, work through the Low Poly Rocket Course and then take the challenge, even if you don't complete it by the end date you can still have a go for some practice modelling. Keep it up 👍

Currently doing the Low Poly Room exercise, I'm already feeling way better moving around on blender and less scared of going ahead to try and model something, still a lot I don't understand but so far feeling nice

  • gabrieljim replied

Here's the low poly room, I don't know if it'll pass the exercise or not but honestly I like it, feels kinda comfy and it's almost the same to my actual room

Did an animation as well: https://streamable.com/yu486k

Good to here ggabrieljim , stay positive and all will become clear in time 👍

(Removed pic for the one in the comment) Doing the mesh modelling bootcamp, here's my logo! Can't wait to get to the revolver

  • gabrieljim replied

Damn, the final exercise for the course is modelling a husky lol, honestly seems impossible rn, let's see if that changes when I get there

  • adrian replied

    Hey ggabrieljim , nice work.

At the bottom of the bite it looks a bit stretched. Did you have a face loop follow all the way round the edge of the logo?

Apart from that, a good looking logo.

  • adrian replied

You'll do great I'm sure. When you get there , stay focused on the topology flow.

  • gabrieljim replied

Yes! Seems like I forgot to add an edge loop at that bit to sharpen it up, good catch, thank you

  • gabrieljim replied

Here's the house following along the tutorial, now comes making my own for the exercise, hope it goes well

  • gabrieljim replied

My lil house, I like it

  • adrian replied

    Excellent, very nice.

  • gabrieljim replied

This was INCREDIBLY hard, considering I was simply following along

I'm not sure most of it stuck with me, guess for now I'll do revolver section and just give it a shot with the husky, I'm not too confident I'll be able to make that rn, but guess soon we shall know

  • akiran replied

OH WOW !  did you already had experience before you started something here? I started 4 days ago and am impressed what you show :O it also scares me a little, I was proud of my rocket until just now because 5 days ago I did not even know how to use the menu in blender and then I see yours here and get respect at what is about to come :O

  • gabrieljim replied

No previous experience at all, but this one was just following along a tutorial hahah, I still feel like I've improved but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to do it on my own, there's an exercise a bit later on where you do have to model a husky from zero so I'll let you know how that goeS!

  • adrian replied

You done a great job ggabrieljim

  • gabrieljim replied

Here's my revolverrrr, learning to model guns was my initial reason to learn modelling, so following along this one was really cool

I'm unsure wheter I should try to model a 1911 myself next or finish out the course giving the husky a shot, guess I'll figure it out tomorrow when I get back to it
