Align Rotation to target not working as expected

posted to: Snapping

I am 2.9 blender on Mac

I am 8:26 mins into the snapping lesson --- I am followed the instruction, choose face snap, turned on align rotation to target, but when I place on the wall --- my chair breaks up, what did I do wrong?

Thank you!

You've broken your chair :) You shouldn't be able to do that...

Please post a screenshot of the complete UI...there is not enough information in your image....I have not been able to reproduce this...Can't imagine it is a Mac issue...

I also can't recreate the problem, try closing the file and reopen it to see if it persists.

    Hello :)

Maybe you choose the individual origins when you snap ?

If you check you are on median point, does it solve the problem ?

cchapeline good thinking! (Was my first idea as well...)

The thing is, that the chair is one Object (in the original file), so you'd have to break it up into separated pieces, to get more than one origin, which you can only do in Edit Mode....

But even then I can't get snapping to behave like that...

I fix it, my chair broke because I was in edit mode. But if I switch to object mode and place it on the wall then the chair is intact hahaha, thank everyone.

I fixed it, the problem was edit mode, if you place the chair on the wall in object mode, then it works fine, thanks :)
