    Nice selection Omar

These 2 are my favs, if that counts for anything..

  • Omar Domenech(dostovel) replied

Yes of course it does. The one on the right now has two votes in its favor.

  • Kent Trammell replied

Thanks for making a WIP thread dostovel. I will add another vote to this one:

The other one I like except for how skinny the middle feels - like it could collapse if a person walked on it:

If you thicken the middle into more of an arch like the blockout I'm cool with either direction. Note that the second picture has a deeper ravine into the creek than our landscape. So the bridge is basically flat on top, connecting high terrain to high terrain where ours is curved on top.

You'll make it work I have no doubts, sir!

  • spikeyxxx replied

I think that the 'second' picture looks more fantasy-like,  it looks to me like it couldn't exist in real life....therefore: the better choice!

    I mean, this:

would have been made by roman slaves, while this:

must have been made by Melvin the magician...

I'm thinking this is a hero model so I'll try not to cut corners too much. This is going to be seen from many angles and it's not like the waynescottish that will have indentures that will prevent the side viewing. So as low poly as it can be but not too much. Strike the perfect balance.

    Homework Submission

It's in the WIP folder for Standalone Accessories. I tried to catch up to week 3 assignments, but I didn't make it on time. How is that going to translate to low poly? God help me.

  • John Sanderson(procyonlotor) replied

I agree with the second one, but now I also want that willow tree!

dostovel This is looking stupendous! You may have beveled a few corners, but didn’t cut any. Great job!

  • Omar Domenech(dostovel) replied

I wish I had you superpowers Matthew, you never cease to amaze me.

Thanks, but I'm now freaking out thinking it looks too realistic and not stylistic. I think I made a bad mistake. But let's wait and see what our Spice Lord says.

  • Kent Trammell replied

    dostovel....this is...stunning. I mean..wow.

I see what you mean about it being too realistic. But I think it's just shy of the "too realistic" line. Don't change anything. Bake your maps and make sure you maintain a simplistic base color. I think the texturing can determine if it's perfectly styled or too realistc.

Seriously great work. I didn't know you had a sculptor under your hardsurface / arch viz portfolio!

  • Keith (beefkeef) replied

holy cow! that thing is beautiful, really great work Omar!

I agree with Kent, I think you're good with the stylised feel. For me - the wood fence helps to pull it more into stylised look!

Can't wait to see this with a splash of colour on it

  • Omar Domenech(dostovel) replied

    Alright, thank you.

I'll start asap with the second phase of retopo, baking, painting and all of that.

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

That's breathtaking beautiful 👍! dostovel How long did it take you to model this bridge?

PS: I wish I had seen your livestream, Omar dostovel!

  • splat21 replied

    dostovel, Excellent work!  🏆

  • Omar Domenech(dostovel) replied

Thanks Mr. Frank. Thank you Ingmar, I'm honored you'd consider watching it.

I made the effort to try and dedicate the entire saturday to working on the bridge, so I worked on it from 8am to 8pm that entire day and then sunday at least 3 hours. So maybe you'd guess 15 hours total, but no, since I was doing laundry in between and cooking and stuff and then when we got online on discord and we kinda joked around and goofed around a bunch. So I'd put the bridge total time at around 10.52 hours total.

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

dostovel How did you align the stones so well? I looks so realistic!

  • Omar Domenech(dostovel) replied

Painstakingly hand placed one by one. The file is in Drive if you want to take a look at it.

Man I hope I can correct the looking realistic in the texture painting and baking sections. If I fail I hope the other bridges are coming along better.

  • Vincent (vincav81) replied

I could definitely see Kent doing some kind of a fly through under the bridge in the final animation. Amazing work dostovel

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

dostovel I still wish I would have seen you doing this live 😀! Isn't there a time machine 🤔🕵️‍♂️⏰🛸?
