Animation: IK control help

Hello fellow cookie monsters,

I had a question about the IK controls. I was wondering whether there was a way to force a IK control to follow the mesh. I attached a picture to help better understand the issue I'm having. I was hoping there's a way to make that IK hand control follow or be on the hand.  I tried adding some constraints such as the copy location or copy rotation, but although it made the hand where I wanted it, it took away the ability to do anything with the control. Meaning not being able to rotate it. Hopefully someone might know the answers.

Or is this something that's natural and I have to accept it?

    Hi Drake.

What you have mentioned isn't possible as it will create a dependency cycle.

The Mesh is controlled by the Armature, so the Armature can't be controlled to the Mesh.  (Chicken or the Egg.)

I think what you are asking is can the IK control be snapped to the FK controls (and/or vice versa).

Yes this is possible, however, I did not build this function into the rig.  I will at some stage in the future but with my current 'to-do list', who knows when that will be.  (I certainly don't haha)

It is possible to do some manual snapping by copying and pasting the visual transforms but it isn't a straight forward process in many circumstances.

Sorry I can't be of more help right now.

No, you've helped a lot. I don't know too much about rigs in general, but I know that this information will be useful for future reference. Thanks!
