One of my ancestors was a fur trapper for the Hudson Bay Company at Fort Edmonton Alberta.
Eventually he became a cattle and horse trader and his ranch still exists today in Montana within the National Park.
He was very close to the local Indian tribes and married into them eventually raising no less than 26 children.
