Am enjoying this tutorial a lot more and am picking up a lot of things I missed but stopping a lot, rewinding and playing it again. Also I am becoming more familiar with blender also. I did have problem rotating the wood beams as others have stated. You mentioned something about the bounding box, I eventually just manually changed the global/local/normal since my version just didn't behave as yours did.
Anyway here is my version after moulding in place.
