Someone asked me how I make my bevel gears - the answer is that I cast them from molten steel using sand moulds and wooden patterns, rather obvious I thought! Here is my foundry showing the process.
Cycles render, 300 passes, with various images textures including a photograph of a piece of old sheet steel. :-)
