Hike Final

Revisited old add sapling preset I made. Created procedural bark and pine cone textures as well as pine needle texture. Made simple volumetric clouds and atmospheric perspective. Learned and utilized weight painting for distribution of trees, grass, ground needles, and ground. Also used Crazy Bump to create normal maps for ground and ground needles. One vital strategy I used was to take image textures into Gimp and Save for Web, which reduced file sizes significantly without losing much texture detail. Render could use more details overall, but was a test of GPU rendering capabilities on computer. This was made on a newer Hackintosh using Blender 2.74. 3.49 GHz Intel Core i7 with 24 GB RAM GPU rendered with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 with 2 GB RAM Used starlightgraphics pine cone model from Blendswap and Andrew Price complimentary Bahia Grass as quick way to add detail.
