Everything I touch turns to.. Final

Playing around with Blenders particle system and rigid body physics trying to recreate the effect from the skittles advert, pretty new to the whole thing so bare in mind its a little ropey and maybe someone can shed some light on a few things :).. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOc4aG6_LIU&feature=youtu.be ^Link to very basic animation, I modelled and shaded a basic phone model to use. 1. I tried to use the particle system for the collapse of the skittles but found that the physics looked very unnatural no matter what i seemed to tweak, and I'm under the impression that the only collision settings for the PS is the geometry of a sphere? But if anyones knows a way to achieve the same results in the PS please do share :). 2. The skittles slide rather than roll, Any ideas how to avoid? Im using convex hull as the collision type but am unable to try mesh type as it seems to crash my system. Running out of text, Happy to share my settings if anyones interested. :)
