Contest Entry: The Life-tree bears fruit, and the Mother teaches. Final

My concept of Mother Nature had several impulses driving it. I wanted to create a figure that didn't merely pull from the humanoid idea that most forms take, I didn't want to take only the plant and herbivore animals for inspiration, and I wanted to not express her as the human embodiment of femininity. I also didn't want to just present her existing in her element, I wanted to try telling a story with a picture. the picture Takes place beneath the life-tree, an embodiment of the tree of life that consists of all the various species, as it bears "fruit" containing each species. Mother is teaching a little girl that represents humanity that she is still part of the tree and one of its fruits. My thinking is that humanity struggled to separate themselves from nature until they fell from the tree, and she felt it necessary to remind humanity that they will always be part of it. I didn't keep track of the of the hours, this is the result of working over three or four days in Manga Studio, with some references used for the animals within the fruit.
