Goblin Sculpt for Halloween: Episode I
Live Stream Host: Kent TrammellIn honor of the spookiest month, each week in October I'm going to be hopping on a stream to sculpt a goblin character with Blender. The little guy was designed by our very own Mr. Tim Von Rueden!
Come hang out. Learn some character modeling tricks-o-the-trade. Bring your questions about Blender, modeling, sculpting, CGC, art, movies, music - whatever - and let's have some Halloween-themed fun.
That's such a great video and message from Andrew. Thanks for sharing that vvaculik!
You're right, we're still trying to figure out how to better promote our streams. I don't think we're close-minded to twitch or an outside platform (Youtube is something we're considering for posting stream recordings). Thanks for the suggestion 🙇🏻
Fair enough. I think there's a lot of potential here though, because a lot of people want to learn Blender these days, and there aren't many Blender streams. All a matter of figuring out the best way to promote it I guess.
For what it's worth, the reason I signed up for CG Cookie was thanks to the man, the myth, the legend himself Andrew Price with this video:

Or Rock-Star ones
vvaculik We do free-for-everyone streams occassionally, depending on the topic. Interestingly enough, Tim pioneers CGC streaming on Twitch - been doing that for the past year+. They were all free and never seemed to connect people to cgcookie.com for further learning. So we changed direction with launching version SIX of our site (back in July) to incorporate on-site livestreams, primarily making them accessible for Citizen members.
free to access stream*. Kind of like the free videos/courses that serve as previews.
I think maybe a good way to promote these streams and CG Cookie in general would be to start a free to access on a popular platform like Twitch one day, and if people like what they see, let them know they can get these weekly on CG Cookie.
These streams are all exclusive for members right?
thanks
Thanks for joining, chat!
Thank s!
Thanks for the stream!
thanks for sharing
One last question to get in: do you use your tablet buttons in your workflow?
this is a good approach
Retopology could be interesting, too. (Not sure how much it is covered in the character tutorials, haven't had a look at those yet).
Maybe not the most fun, but I think there's a lot to learn from observing the rigging process
i had a question earlier: How can I cut down a thin part like ears?
By the way, I think Sculpting is great for streaming because it's fun and there's a huge amount of depth to it.
The one other thing I think would be interesting to stream would be complex rigging.
I've been trying to learn blender for over 2 years
do you model characters?
