This is another "2-hr project" with emphasis on modeling optimally with modifiers. In other words: Coaxing Blender to do work for us. Over all the model is pretty simple and straight forward but we do want to be mindful of structural authenticity and detail since the camera will be close to the lantern.
Spoiler: Cycles wins this one 🥇. Though I will likely start blocking in my materials and lighting with Eevee, I find that Cycles produces superior results for up-close realism. It's worth noting that this is the first project in months that I've felt necessary to use Cycles.
Thanks for the stream
hey
dostovel Lol filmic and I are on pretty good terms. I'd say 80% of the time I leave it as the default and the other 20 I'll change the "Look" color management setting to "medium contrast". I do that when filmic's defualt doesn't get contrasty enough for my taste
Maybe in the future people will make computers just for fun 😱
n647 I was watching the quixel announcement video a few minutes before streaming. I'm intrigued! I didn't know that they ditched their connection to photoshop in favor of their standalone apps. I think they'll give substance a major run for their money now
If only people from 200 hundred years ago knew we now make lanterns just for fun
@theluthier Thanks ever so much, Kent - always looking forward to any content you put out! Your courses are terrific, so I'm sure it'll be a treat. ^_^ Will definitely keep an eye out for any workshops next year.
Thanks everyone! 👋
hhobbes99 I'm not sure when the next workshop will happen. The production of my next course is taking all my time apart from stream weeks. But I love running workshops so it's possible I will get one on the calendar for 2020
Thanks for the stream Kent
