Snow is most common in winter scenes where there’s usually a lot of it. Contrary to many CG recreations of snow, simply a white diffuse shader doesn’t make for the most believable snow material. To make a believable one, we have to understand what snow is made of. That’s where we break down 3 important characteristics: - Geometric displacement - Translucence (subsurface scattering) - Reflective flakes In this lesson you will learn about those 3 specific characteristics of snow to build a flexible snow material that can be used for micro (close-ups) and macro (landscapes) situations.
