Achieving a Final Product
Wayne Dixon and I have been doing animated projects together for a few years. And he’s said more than once, “Kent I need to know how you render animations into the final product. I know enough about modeling, I know a lot about rigging, and animation but I don’t know how to make all of that look pretty and finished.”
It’s a lot of work to get an animation finished and looking nice. But the process isn’t over when the animation is complete. It’s also a lot of work to get the animation shaded, lit, and rendered so it’s presentable and, well, beautiful. That’s what this course is all about: Not how to animate but how to make your animations beautifully rendered.
What You'll Learn
You're going to see my entire workflow for this project which includes a variety of tasks and problems to solve. From modeling, to texturing, to material creation, to sourcing models online, to rendering, to compositing, to video editing, to sound editing -- we're doing a lot in this course. But the 2 main things I want you to learn from this course are conceptual:
Do More with Less: A well-planned project sets us up to do the least amount of work for the maximum end result. Developing the right mind-set for projects like this one is important for successful completion of the project as well as avoiding over-exertion. It's a crucial thing to learn for producing animations as a small team or by yourself.
Become an Effective Problem Solver: If these animation projects with Wayne has taught me anything, it's to be prepared for problems you never anticipated. Simply by the complex nature of computer animation, glitches and issues pop up frequently. The only way through them is to be open-minded, think outside the box, and learn to be resourceful.
