Will Retopology be applied to Sculpt model

I would like to know if retopology is the solution to simplify the character we designed in sculpt process.

For example, I am also learning to make a sculpt model "Wrangler" in modeling course - "Sculpting the Wrangler".

The Hair and the Moustache made in sculpt process is quite nice. However, we may lose those things if we retopologize the model and use the new one in this tutorial. 

So, my questions is which way i should use to simplify the model for our sculpt models? is it the same process as i learnt in this course ?
