Modeled from life. Still, I took some ref pics for practice. The shading is low grade and fumbling, but will be much better after I take the shader course! :) Not bad for a non-tutorial image, really.
Also, it's my first attempt at modeling something outside of tutorials. I'll say that Jonathon's course on hard surface modeling really drilled in basic modeling skills. Thanks for the compliments and the feedback is always appreciated. (Tarkovsky... I liked Solaris, and loved Stalker)
Really not bad...Maybe make the inside of the head ash-black so that it would look more like the pipe that it isn't....
Tarkovsky used this idea about the difference between something and a picture of something brilliantly in Solaris, where he went a step further and confronted us with the picture of an idea wathing herself in a mirror...
