Face Sculpt Project Work In Progress

Uploaded 3 new images focusing on the eyes. I'm still really slow with sculpting. When dealing with people, particularly the face, minor features feel major. Move that crease from the nose to the corner of the mouth, and all of a sudden the face hates you. Try to pull the lips up a little, and something else seems off kilter. I feel I have more of a "technical" eye than an artistic one, and still don't have a great eye for proportion. Having fun, but I need to do more so that my models can progress faster.

I seem to have lost the ability to order the images.

Maybe there are too many of them now?

Was hoping to kind of document my progress on this, but it's tricky to see the progress if the images are all mixed together.

Slow progress. I have the beginnings of an ear. Things like the ear and the eyelids are suffering a little when sculpting because they need more detail.

I need a little bit more work on the back of the head, but this is close enough I may start on the torso.

  • wardred The eyes are probably the most complicated part of the human head. I'm also still learning!

    2nd round, looking better.

The fine details like the eyelids are almost too small. Getting jaggies there.

The bags under the eyes were tricky. From the front they look poofed out. From the side you can see they're actually pulled in and it's the coloring that makes them look puffy.

    Thank you duerer!

The guy's a bit heavy, but you're right. The sides need to come in a fair bit, particularly along the cheeks.

  • wardred That's already a good start 👍! I would modifiy the head's silhouette in the area of the outer eye corners and the cheeks. Currently, it's one large arc which makes it looks more like an egg (although the egg shape is a good point to start from when creating a head). The ears should fit between the eyebrow ridge and the bottom of the nose. And the neck's diameter should be more like an egg (with the wider end to the head's backside).
