My result after following the sci-fi helmet courses. It started off as an old half-done sculpt that was intended to be a robot. It was then refined, retopologized, and detailed/textured following the methods in the two helmet courses.
I've been doing blender/cg for about a year, and I feel like I learned more about this style of hard-surface modelling/texturing from these courses than from just nearly any other video/tutorial I've watched to date (and I've mined youtube for all it's worth).
Blender for almost everything, cycles render@750 samples, compositor to add glow to the lit-up parts, and a tiny bit of photoshop to put text at the bottom.
The actual model is complete, but I'm labelling this as in-progress simply because I'd like to build it a proper scene for a background eventually.
