Showreel Ident: Ryan Dickinson Final

This is the first professional animation I've made using Blender only. I work as a motion designer at Ogilvy and Mather, and use C4D and After Effects, but I've been keeping my eye on Blender for the past four or five years, and over the past year I've grown to love it more and more. The fundamentals are beautifully thought out: being able to simply tap "G - Z - 3" for example, makes for such a swift workflow once you get into it. Blender is so worth persisting with. In this piece, a seven second motion graphics ident, I took advantage of Animation Nodes for some of the secondary animation, and for automating render visibility. It's a terrific answer to C4D's Xpresso node system, and a little easier to use since the Add menu can be invoked in the editor, rather than via a menu. I also scratched the surface of HardOps for some simple bevelling, but I've got tons more to learn on that front. All in all the experience has been a real joy and I am hooked on Blender. I think in the future I would like to experiment using it in conjunction with Houdini, then the sky really would be the limit! I would like to acknowledge the work of Arataca for the speaker cone, and Adrian Rutkowski for some kitbash elements.
