Bräcklig Bostad Final

This is a render of the tutorial result from the Box Modeling a House section of the Mesh Modeling Bootcamp. I added simple materials to the model and an HDRI image background. The new bevel shader really was neat and simple to use. @jlampel raised a lot of important questions about the origin and design of the house featured in Part 2 of the Mesh Modeling Bootcamp. Hopefully the following** will help demystify some of that: The Bräcklig Bostad, was designed and manufactured by someone who desperately wanted to work for the Swedish retail giant, IKEA. While the designer may not have landed the job, their house design remains one of the most remarkable and affordable. The house is constructed entirely of MDF (medium-density fibreboard), and can be assembled by any DIY home-building enthusiast using only model glue and 4 screws. Jonathan correctly observed that the left front of the house features what at first glance appears to be a carport, but due to price-point restrictions, the manufacturer opted to convert this area into a parking pad for up to 4 ride-on mowers. Since the house does not feature a front porch or veranda due to the size of the built-in flower planters, a large overhanging slab is included on the right to shield family members from rain while they wait for the glass entrance door to be opened. To reduce cost, the door does not feature handles or locking mechanisms, but uses a magnetic clip to stay shut, much like a home entertainment stand. To deter theft, the house features a collapsible balcony, which can be triggered by the homeowner to flip down and surprise prowlers. Replacement balconies can be ordered online for the low price of $49.95. The garage has ample space for 1 vehicle and features a loft bedroom with fireman's pole to quickly access your car if you are late for work. The Bräcklig Bostad is clearly the first-time homeowner's dream* home, coming in at only $949.99. Most homes of this size would be priced at $350,000 - $750,000, so this is an incredible deal. Buy now before it's gone! Literally. There is a 10 mph wind forecast for this evening, so you had better jump on this deal and hold it down. *Nightmares are also classified as dreams. ** This description is fictional. :-) House design by CG Cookie.
