Addyson! Those hands are looking quite good man, nice work!! 😊

Would be helpful to see more views (from the side for example), but from what I can see, the top of the hand looks to be too flat. The hand slopes a bit on either side of the middle knuckle. Also, the hand looks a bit stiff and tensed.

I know fingers are pretty hard to sculpt, but they are not consistent throughout and a bit too pointy at the tips. But this will be an easy fix if you ever retopo :) Last thing I'll mention is the size of the wrinkles on the palm -- they are too wide IMO, try pinching them in a bit.

Even with all this said, very good work dude, keep this up I'm impressed! 😄

Working on the Art of Sculpting Course. I'm trying not to jump around too much, but if there is something that I think will help me complete another project better than I will usually do it and then go back and finish the other lesson.

Working on an octopus. I sculpted and retoped and then added a subsurface modifier. I'm working on adding the suction cups. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

    Octopus - (WIP)

Along with some clean up work I'm still trying to figure out the lighting for this. I'm just not feeling it yet.

Nice octopus! Here are a few images you could use as lighting inspiration (or even submit to the lighting challenge thread!):

What similarities do you notice about all the above?

Thank you very much! I love the lighting in the last picture and I would say that that would definitely be my goal. The shades of blue are awesome and I love that I can see the rays of light.

One similarity that I can see is that the main focus pops out of each image so that I notice them pretty much immediately.

I'll be sure to check out the lighting challenge.

If anyone would like to give some serious critique on this project, it would be much appreciated. I am working on cleaning it up right now so that I can do a print.

I have been working on more coral, I am still working on the shader for the octopus, and I'm trying to figure out how to add mounds of sand around the coral.

This is looking better! It feels like it's under water now. The thing that really jumps out to me is how low the resolution of the ground texture is, perhaps you could find another one that's a bit bigger or one that can tile well?

Thank you! I will poke around and see if I can get a better look for the ground texture.
