So, I decided that this place is better for posting WIPs than gallery :)
nekronavt wow really great work the female sculpt looks wonderfull as well the mask already. Cool concept art to try out. I look forward to more
Had some cloth blocking yesterday, not final tho. And don't mind the materials. Just some color variation.
theluthier I have a question about this ripped loincloth in terms of Modeling Realistic Characters with Blender course. I'm planning to do this with a combination of real geometry and cloth cards (like hair cards, but cloth) for a retopo and details stage, I think this is the best solution for this kind of thing. But for blocking stage is it okay to leave it as a rough dyntopo sculpt? Maybe some tips about how to block out stuff like that?
Concept is on a previous page
nekronavt wow now this looks so great already. Truly amazing work. Can't wait to see more
nekronavt Ooooo I'm liking that mask, playing to your strengths with your excellent bone shader from your last project, huh? Keep it up!
nekronavt so much awesome details already! look at those toes! Look at that mask! Seriously your sculpting skills are wayyy beyond mine. But then again I already know I like some other 3D stuff better than sculpting, so you'll always beat me haha 😛
I'll do my best to point out stuff to improve anyway, even with my limited knowledge about it, since you want to be a pro at this 😎 but at this early stage I can only say it's a great start, and I'm looking forward to the next WIP 😄
nekronavt Progressing nicely. Impressive job so far.

Thank you, everyone :)
thecabbagedetective I won't use this shader, I'm planning to do a texture in Substance Painter this time :)
nekronavt For blocking it's really an "anything goes" kind of thing. A rough dyntopo sculpt is perfectly fine as a block-in because it approximates the rip and wrinkles, which is good for perception (even at the block-in stage). I like this approach because once I'm ready to convert to real geo, the rough sculpt could be good enough to bake a normal map and save time. Or just need a little extra polish and then it's ready.
All that to say, as far as I can tell you're approaching the block-in how I would as well. Cool concept too, btw 👍
theluthier thank you for answer!
I'm a bit slow now since learning ZBrush in parallel, here is a WIP to keep my polybook alive. Hair and bands are more like experimenting than blocking for now. Just trying to figure out the best methods and so on. Hope to finish blocking by the end of 2018.
nekronavt really great looking. That hair looks complicated to made :O
yyukinoh1989 thanks :)
WIP xD but I don't think that it'll survive the night with some vandal children.
Happy New Year everyone!
nekronavt I think you forgot the carrot :D Happy new year!
nekronavt Happy New Year! 😁
I tried to start a sculpt January today (a bit late, but rules allows catching up) and what I come to, that it's a complete waste of time. Concepting your works demands much more time that sculpting it and only slows down progress. I'll focus on what I've done before.
nekronavt OMG...I actually thought this is render as well :D
dragonice69 xD I wish it was
So, back to work. (of course I missed 2018 deadline, too many thing to do it was)
Not much left, few things to add, few things to tweak and I'll be ready for retopo and additional mesh modeling.
nekronavt This is coming along nicely! Can't wait to see when you get to material creation :) Sad that you bailed on Sculpt January, but I understand. The calendar topics they choose leave a lot of interpretation for the artist, which is both a strength and a weakness for the event, and if you are really trying to maximize your 3D time, the concept phase can be a drain. Good luck in your pursuits this month! I look forward to the posts.
nekronavt That's going to look insane with textures. I'm guessing you're going to pose her afterwards?
pprocyonlotor thank you!
drgnclw yep, I want to depict a pose from the concept.
So, I'm planning to do a retopo this week and I noticed, that current Weekly CG Challenge is about character modeling. Don't know if I should try to carry two characters in parallel, but that's definitely a good occasion to fill up my portfolio. I think I'll try.
