I am trying something simple, because it is the basis for something more complex. I create two planes, line them up 90 degrees to each other with one edge along another, in an L shape. Then I try to merge the two and then bevel the intersecting edge. It doesn't work. When I bevel, nothing happens. I did notice that once I have joined these two planes and created one object with them (cntl-J), when I go to edit mode and select the two vertices at the crease of the L, the highlighting that comes off a vertex only goes into one direction, i.e. into the direction of one plane, not the other. So it seems as if the merging of the two planes is flawed. Please help.
