I just wanted to know, is that correct to unwrap such objects in a manner I did it? I put a single seam across the object to split it to two almost symmetrical sides.
Yes the layout looks fine to me. Blue = good. You can always test a questionable layout by adding a UV checker texture and comparing the size and square-ness of the checkers on your model.
But by the looks of it I would opt to unwrap your piece very similarly 👌
