I love watching node compositing in action and learning at same time. For scrapbooks, I collect screenshots of node trees from Facebook groups, Blender Stackoverflow, blogs, etc.

  • Jake Korosi(jakeblended)

I think you're right, William - I think the metallic slider more represents the Metal BSDF

  • spikeyxxx

specular has to do with the ior

  • William Miller(williamatics)

I thought the specular value was glossy.

  • spikeyxxx

metallic is basically what the glossy shader used to be, so values between 0 and 1 are ok

This stream is part of week 2 in the August 2019 Class: "Get Started Building Stuff with Blender 2.8"

Texturing introduces color to your models but materials make your model appear to be plastic, or wood, or metal, etc. If you're asking yourself "What's the difference", fear not! I will make sure you know the difference by the end of this week.

We will also be exploring the Eevee engine and how it works together with texturing and shading for a realtime workflow.

Class Live Stream Schedule: RSVP to get notified when we go live.

  1. Week 01 - 3D Modeling with Blender 2.8
  2. Week 02 - UVs and Texture Painting
