In recent weeks, members of the CGC Blender Community have been participating in a challenge thread about matching one of their favorite lighting examples. It's been a lot of fun - I've done 2 already and plan to do more:

No worries! I do the color picker when I shade or texture. I also have an image with tons of colors on it that I bring in if I don't have any reference.
Are you using a Radeon GPU? Didn't they just add compatibility for those in 2.79?

Do you know any cheats for matching the colors? I'm colorblind :(

You're using your CPU for rendering? Not Cuda?

C is for Chroma I think (or something like that from color theory)
C is for color that is highlights on the top end and shadows on the base (if you add a point in the center)

No worries :-) Works for any texture, not just environment.
With node wrangler enabled, you can add the texture coordinate and mapping nodes automatically if you select the environment texture and press Ctrl+T.
