BC1-1801: Week 2 - Pushing & Pulling Verts
Live Stream Host: Kent TrammellThis event is part of the January 2018 Class, "Getting Started with 3D Modeling & Blender".
Second week of the class: Enter the world of mesh modeling! This is the oldest form of building objects in 3D, in the computer. The discussing/demo today revolves around the technical art of “pushing and pulling verts”, as modelers lovingly called it.
We're piggy-backing off the Mesh Modeling Fundamentals course here, where practice makes perfect. So we’ll be mesh-modeling an object or two to demonstrate tools and workflow available with Blender. It’s ideal if you practice along with me!
He is the creator of Pixar :)
If any of you are interested, just try to find a youtube documentary about Ed Catmull, it's fascinating how 3D was on the edge if this guy didn't push forward
Yes, we see the cursor :D
+1 @Sinnay
Always good to be a bit versatil, because being too specialised may lead you to end with a lot of mistakes technicaly wise
First in, last out. :D
It's an order of operations.
Is there a way to set up a shortcut other than ctl + tab to switch between vet, face, edge. Like middle mouse to toggle through those selections?
To add to what you are saying, I also think that even if you are a 3d sculptor you still need to learn polygon modeling if you try any kind of retopology
I was thinking the same thing "Nature doesn't built in straight lines" form Prometheus
From Prometheus, "Nature abhors straight lines."
And everyone said Meta Balls, didn't know what they were talking about
For the longest time I called them Meat Balls
Kent even has a rock sculpting tutorial that may be a part of next week :D
Yep, rock is a very comon a fun exercise to be done with sculpting
Would rocks be better in sculpting?
Yes, Ed Catmull :)
Tables, cups, furniture,
Edwin catmull right?
He's more behind the scenes these days :D
Thanks J
