Model a House
Rules of the Exercise
1The house must at least have a door, windows, and a roof.
2The house should look comfortable and convenient to live in.
3All details should be appropriately sized in metric or imperial units.
4Render must be OpenGL, with Matcap shading and Ambient Occlusion.
Make this a place you'd want to live.
You can either upgrade the house that we worked on in the last few lessons or create your own! There should be enough details on or around your house to suggest that human beings are living in it comfortably. The purpose of this exercise is to get comfortable with box modeling tools, and the best way to do that is to create a large variety of simple objects.
If you need ideas, look at reference photos or walk outside and check out the buildings in your area. Details like door handles, windows, trim, hinges, electrical boxes, pipes, gutters, shingles, etc... would be a great place to start.
