    • Basically yes! The publishing details are listed here: http://unity3d.com/unity/publishing/

Multi-Platform is one of Unity’s best features :D It can publish to:
      PC
      Mac
      Xbox
      PS3
      Wii
      iPhone
      Android
…and don’t forget the simple but great “web” publishing, so anyone can play your game/app right online, in the browser!

      In short, Unity rocks :)

So presumably, if you choose the ‘free’ license option, it is only valid for 30 days, and there is no ‘non-commercial’ license available for learning this?

    • The free version is actually always available, it’s the Pro version that has a 30 day trial.

No prob, cheers. Just getting into CG, and very much Blender, not really considered games, but have done a little DB coding and webite scripting, and this really does look suberb. Thanks so much for your time and enthusiasm in promoting this :)

This seems like as good a place as any to post this:

http://www.unitycookie.com is still showing the “Powering up in November” page, not redirecting to http://www.cgcookie.com/unity

Also, is there a site feedback button anywhere? As in, the site as a whole, not a specific video?

Always wanted to try and make a game. Explored a few options but for a “didn’t go to college” man like me…

Then I discovered you guys. I am very grateful for this and the other CG Cookie sites. Please keep up the good (and dream making) tutorials coming.

Anyone know if Unity works on Linux (specifically Ubuntu 11.10)?

Hi Jeremy- unfortunately, no, not currently. It’s been brought up in the forums once or twice, but the official response was, and I “semi-qoute-from-vague-memory”: “…it would take a lot of time and effort to port Unity to Linux, time and effort that 99% of users would rather be used toward other features, so while we would like to- not yet.”

…or something to that effect. Sure would be great though, eh? Perhaps soon!

Hi, I’ve installed unity in wine as I am a linux user. When I make a new project I make a folder for it but I get an error: Specified path is not valid(should be a name of an nonexisting or empty directory)

Is this wine being unreliable or is there something wrong with what I am doing?

Hi there- that’s a good question, I may just have to try it myself. It would be great to have Unity usable in Linux!

For now, I would try a few trial-and-error fixes…first create the directory, then the project, create the directory via the “new project” dialogue, etc. It probably just Wine being a little finicky.

sorry, I should clarify what I said, I get the error when I make the directory in the new project dialogue. When I make it outside of the dialogue box I can’t create the project. :(

Hey you know version 4 is released im not sure if you are going to keep using v3 or not through the entire project tutorials but if so, you have 3.4.2 would v3.5.6 work the same? i dont want to use v4.0 if your only going to be using v3 if that makes since.

we have a mixture of versions here, personally I have unity 4.0 pro, and I believe the rest of the team is still stuck on unity 3.5 for now.
you can have both 3.5 and 4 installed, but 4 is a lot nicer in my experience, and we will be having unity 4 tutorials coming :)

Are these “Getting Started” tutorials being updated to Unity 4? And if so, if you don’t mind my asking, do you have any idea when the updated versions will be released? I’m planning to go through these tutorials very soon but I’m just wondering if I should hold off.

Hi Clement, not a lot has changed in regards to the basics from unity3.5 and unity 4.0
So not likely any time soon as we want to get out some more advanced tutorials on the site.
