Nobody is posting here so i`ll give my 0.02ct worth. To get content back up in modo cookie and up to speed try using different tutorials from max cookie or blender cookie. Example, the bathroom scene in max but a different approach in modo.
A bit like how Jonathan took the livingroom scene and rendered it in LuxRender. For me its not about new content just the settings or workflow in modo.
Another example is the wooden barrels modeled and rendered blender and cycles.Do the exact same scene but in modo.
Hope this helps. Ian
agree.
I agree with Kuran. If there is a tutorial for Max, that tutorial should be done in Modo and Blender also. If there is a tutorial for Blender, do the same tutorial in Max and Modo…and so on. Different software, different experience.
I guess, cool material tutorials and how to use 3d texts in modo. I’m new at the 3d world, just started to use modo and i’m really enjoin it! My only prob right now is in the render part, the final product. I see everywere people doing great jobs only with the modo render and no photoshop. And I just can’t get that result.
The
*The 3d text is other thing, I use that tool a lot, and seriously, I still don’t know how to turn one extruded text into a rounded corner one. My mesh always get fuc#ed.
Hope I could answer your question!
Btw, modo cookie rocks!
Thanks for the replies guys. Yes, we were thinking the exact same thing and we also got a few requests via the form. I promise this will happen in the near future. Thanks for posting, stay tuned!
How to create a neat unwrapped UV map of some 3d text ready for export to PS.
How to create some ‘candy cane 3d stroke style’ text.
How to create some marmalade jelly gooey like 3d text..
aka Sub Polygon Displacement kind of style;)
Project based tutorials are great too to understand workflow.
This website is awesome btway. Puts many other tutorial sites to shame.
Keep on rocking;O)x
Thanks for the insight ZED! We will get cooking on some of those text based tutorials. Unfortunately modo is not the perfect tool for type effects as it involves a lot of work to reach a finished project. I can recommend Cinema4D for type effects as its tools are more suitable for this kind of thing. Also I want to mention 2 things:
1. Modo’s type tool is not very good, i often use Cinema4D to get the 3d text and then export it to modo.
2. I don’t see why you want to unwrap a text if you want to costumize it, unless its for an animation, what you can do, you can render out an alpha (matte) pass of the text and the use it to post process the text in photoshop.
Hope this helps, cheers and happy holidays.
Agreed with everything said here. I often come to the site and see tutorials hammered out for the other apps, while I love modo and I am a total beginner this site is helping me learn it.
1st I want to say Thanks for all the efforts and time spent.
2nd Maybe a character modeling, texturing and animation tutorial would be great. Just like the one for blender on the cg cookie character.
3rd Thanks for listening.
A little late, I know, but I would definitely love to see some Organic Character modeling workflow tutorials. Perhaps a full project tut from Conceptualization to Base Model to Hi Poly Model to Retop to Baking to Export to Game Engine (Unity 3D integration), similar to the Blender Tut, but maybe female this time around, without the face being obscured by a mask.
game characters creation
Deep understanding about materials, shaders, lighting and how they interact/result in final render
You guys touched on vertex painting in your ‘Efficient planning and modular workflow for game environments’ video. Could you please make an extended ‘applied’ tutorial for both Blender and Modo and also show us how to follow it up and get it working in Unity? This would be a great help. Btw I notice this thread is now over a year old, I might have to re-post this in a more ‘recent’ thread?
