Explosion over a mountain
Welcome to this CG Cookie tutorial series talking about how to simulate an explosion over a mountain using Particle Flow and FumeFX.
Learn how to create a big scale explosion over a proxy mountain mesh using Particle Flow and FumeFX.
In this course we’ll talk about a simple way to simulate an explosion over a mountain using Particle Flow and FumeFX.
What we’ll do
In this course we’ll simulate a big explosion over a proxy mountain mesh using FumeFX driven by a PFlow setup. Particles will simulate different layers of dust moving in different ways but it will be really simple just to give it initial movement dynamic.
Then we’ll prepare a FumeFX setup with two different layers simulating different dust/explosion passes. 1st one will be used for mid air/low density dust, and the 2nd one will be the bigger dust/smoke falling down and rolling/growing. We’ll see how to control dust animation/behaviour using simulation parameters and animating it, then we’ll take a look at rendering quality and look using a gradient color to control dust shading. We’ll see how to manage big scale simulation to obtain more details and how to control it step by step.
