In this video for 3ds max, we’ll finalize the Tron Portal tutorial. We’ll divide the scene in various layers, as background, side, portal and energy effects, then we’ll tune a little bit some shaders, and we’ll start rendering every layer paying attention to reflection and visibility of others. We’ll setup the render elements to have some additional passes as alpha, reflection, self illumination and zdepth, so we’ll be able to add some additional glow and to simulate a really basic depth of field. Other passes will be useful is case we’d like to control better masks and  reflections. We’ll comp everything in Combustion using some effects as glow, compound blur, etc etc

Taking a Big breath before starting, It looks like its going to be a hard one.I better do it and complete the scene, because it wouldn’t be fair, doing three parts and not this one.

    Thank you Mr Cangelosi

Hi AC! May name is Lee Bano, I’m from Brazil. I love this tutorial. I want to ask to you how can I make a real animation composition with a 3dmax modeled UFO in a real footage (movie) on the sky over buildings using After Effects or something better?

Hi, sorry for the delay. It is a not so brief thing to explain, you have to track or match the camera for the real footage, export it in 3ds max. Then you have to tune lighting in 3ds max to have same lighting as in the real footage, and then you have to export it in After Effects, using some passes to make it interacting with real world objects. As you see there are a lot of things to do, I can plan a tutorial to describe it in depth. Thanks again.
