In this video we’ll finalize the Modern exterior villa project. We’ll work a little bit on some materials to fix colors, bump details etc. We’ll change the camera position and perspective to find a better point of view, and we’ll work on plants, adding some of it, moving the others, changing the materials with some basic Arch&Design shaders, we’ll work on the external wall to a better result, then adding a little bit of depth of field with iRay and fixing some parameters on the sky and the exposure control, we’ll be ready to move the rendered image in Combustion to work with color correction and other tools to find final look.

Top work on the video Alessandro, nice and smooth :) How long did that video take to render?

Thanks, it is really simple. Coming rendering tutorial will be higher level and we’ll work just to achieve maximum photorealism ;)
To render it I set rendering time to 5 min/frame. So I think the entire animation was a 25 hours render….this was done with a Core i7 3.2Ghz, Quadro 5000 / Tesla C2050.

25 hrs to render, that seems like a long time for only 19 seconds. Max doesn’t use the GPU for the final render only the CPU and ram are taken into consideration. Did you use a Z-depth pass or does Iray incorporate that for you?

Sorry Alessandro excuse that previous comment. I just remembered that Iray does use the GPU for rendering (slaps own head) no wonder it took 25 hours ;)

:) no problem. the depth of field was done direcly by iRay, now zdepth pass and no post processing in comp.

Nice work on this tutorial! However I’m getting strange results when playing the mini clip on youtube in fullscreen 480p. Looks like about 50 gigantic pixels…anyone else has this problem?
