With this video for 3ds max, we’ll start a new particle related series. We’ll see some usage of PFlow to create complex and strange setup like energy fluid, and then we’ll see how to use Krakatoa and Magmaflow to render it and create a beautiful final result.

Hi Miguel, thanks for the support.

I think it is useful to say that we’ll start soon a more in depth video series to talk about Krakatoa starting from basic to really advanced tutorial, so stay tuned for it ! It will be amazing, I think, and I hope ! ;)

Hi Travis, are you reading in my mind ?! :) I’m joking, but it is right. We planned a lot of Krakatoa and FumeFX tutorials, and we’ll introduce Frost too, really soon. So stay tuned for it, in coming weeks/months we’ll have a bunch of VFX related tutorials for Krakatoa, FumeFX; Frost, Realflow, etc etc

I love fumefx pflow and other particle/fluid systems. Your tuts are and will be an invaluable source of learning for me as my Diploma goes along. Unfortunatly I’m busy character and environment modelling for an animation but I am looking forward to showing off the things I have learned from this site in the animation when the time comes. Keep up the good work! :)

Hi Alessandro … great tutorial, thanks for this and the others.

If you are taking suggestions, would love to see a tutorial on how to create a layer of fog/mist in an outdoor scene, in which it reacts to a character walking through it. So a layer of fog at the characters knee level, but no higher … and as the character walks forward the fog reacts to its movement.

    maybe too advanced?

Hi Oliver and thanks for posting. We have some older tutorials about particles on MAXCookie, you can check it, but for sure we’ll work on basic tuts for Particle Flow and Thinking Particles.

Did I miss something? I thought we were going to render using Krakatoa in this tut? When I render with Krakatoa its blank? Seems to be just particle tutorial.

Hey Alessandro! I have a question for you. I’ve been trying to create a death eater smoke effect from Harry potter with FumeFX and it’s so hard. the question is, how do I use FumeFX with the build in particles in 3ds Max?

      Hi again,
it depends on what kind of animation it needs to do. I should use just an animated emitter and some additional forces to control it, but using particles can be an other way too.
