In this video tutorial for 3ds max, we’ll start working on a new tutorial series. We’ll create a desert like environment using simple primitives as planes, then we’ll create a desert shader using the Arch&Design material with some procedural maps and we’ll prepare it to be rendered with Mental Ray. We’ll prepare the lighting setup using MR Sun and MR Sky, with some adjustment to give it
a desert look. We’ll start to create a basic explosion setup with the 1st shock wave layer. We’ll use Particle Flow to give it the basic smoke/dust movement and prepare our 1st simulation.

FumeFX is required for this tutorial

Hi, thanks for the comment. It could be due to you ram amount, have you tried to have a really low resolution for FumeFX grid ? How much free space do you have in your HD where you are saving FumeFX cache ?

thanks for your response. i had 14 gb free space, and i saved it in c drive. but just now i installed max in my brother’s system which mostly has same configuration, except it is 64 bit and it did the job. it is working fine now. thanks

Understood, it is due to 64bit memory management maybe. But glad that now it is solved.

        Thanks

Hello, I am stelvio, I’m Italian and I find very interesting your video tutorials, I wanted to ask a clarification on Desert Explosion with FumeFX Part 1, I come to a point where I do the render of the scene and when I go to run after applying fume fx and dayliht I get an error MSG 0.0 error: Atmospheric “FusionWorks Renderer” is not supported I read already an answer to this problem is similar to mine but I can not solve. Use fume fx 2.2 I repeated this several times during the tutorial but nothing I have a workstation with 24GB of RAM card quadro 2000 i7 cpu and I used 3ds max 2012, if I would like to thank allegari the stage where I get the error so you can see the screens thank you.
ps I also thank you oper the way you work and the possibility that the users of your writings to assimilate tutorial clear and especially non-binding short time and download not granted, I follow other sites where they are registered, but I must confess that what you Submit, and I also say on a personal basis is really what I was looking for.
