Working with displacement give us the possibility to add a lot of details on 3D models, and in some cases it can be a modeling technique. We can see the displacement result in rendering, but if we are using it as map in the material editor we can’t see the result in viewport in real time. Displace approx modifier solve this problem giving us a way to see in view port the result. We have 3 levels of tessellation of the mesh, (we have complete control to customize it if we need), and the polygons are visible just in 3D view.

You can find it in the standard modifier list, do you have problems to find it ? it is not in your list ?

Please let me know so I can try to understand where is the problem.

      Thanks
