In this tutorial for 3ds max we’ll continue working on the animated flag scene we started some weeks ago. We’ll add the fire and the smoke simulation using FumeFX plug-in. We’ll use a standard emitter, plus wind forces and the flag interaction. We’ll work to find a fast simulation setup that can give us a good basic quality for our purpose and then we’ll use the Wavelet feature to have more details. Finally we’ll comp the clip using Combustion. This will be a good basic introduction to FumeFX usage in a more complete scene, and in some coming tutorials we’ll explore it more in depth trying to achieve more complex and more realistic results.

Hi Chris, We used Composite on past tutorials. Actually we are still using Combustion just because it is faster to setup basic rough comp with it for new users. We’ll do more Composite tutorials soon. Thanks
I completely understand, but I am having troubles obtaining a copy of Combustion since it doesn’t seem to be available on the autodesk official site. Do you have any ideas on where I can get a full copy?
Hi Daniel,
